Radiography Testing
Radiography Testing (RT) is the oldest from the modern Non Destructive Testing methods that are used. Although there are many safety considerations for the use of ionizing radiation, an advantage of RT over other methods is that many RT techniques provide a permanent record of test results.
In this method, a specific radiographic film is placed under the sample that is inspected. Then the sample is exposed to radiation, the radiation passes through the sample and is exposed to the radiographic film. Discontinuities within the component that is inspected affect the exposure and the indications on the film.
Radiography Testing provides the NDT operators with high sensitive results, as well as a permanent record for the component that is inspected. In addition, it is applicable to most materials such as welds, castings, forgings and composites.
